Banishing Belly Fat
That’s my focus these days, as far as weight loss/toning up. (As far as fitness, it’s training for a marathon!)
Anyway, I’ve followed the awesome Sarah for awhile on Tumblr. Yesterday, I clicked through to her site. Um, check out those abs! So I asked her a question yesterday about how I could get abs like hers. Check out her answer below. It’s all pretty common-sense...

outofhabit:
an interesting read, especially if you’ve been trying to watch your sugar intake [which i’ve found to be easier said than done].

Giveaway Time!
Remember last week how I got the $100 to my gym? Well, I just got an e-mail that the credit had posted to my account, and that I get a 30-day trial membership that I am to “pass on to someone who shares my enthusiasm for fitness.” I could pass it along to a friend, but that’s a little less fun!
So! I’m going to share the pass with one of you. You have until noon tomorrow...

Seriously, this week can't get any better!
I ran a fast (for me) half-marathon Sunday. From Sunday - Thursday, I was pretty much glowing. Tuesday, I had a third interview. Yesterday, I got offered the job.
AMAZING, RIGHT?
Today, after meeting up with Cara, I was meandering down Broadway back to my end of the island, wandering in and out of stores. After losing my favorite water bottle at the gym, I decided to go for it and buy the...

I’m not saying any more just yet, other than that’s what [redacted] was the other day, and I AM SO EXCITED!

Oh Snap?
So, I read somewhere between five and a gazillion “healthy” blogs. They range from everything from food pictures/food diaries/thinspiration to some pretty awesome ones like Nutritionista and Shedding It, who have lots of “real content.” I’d like to think my blog is somewhere in the middle, and that’s actually right where I like it.
Rachel from Shedding It had a...

But what happens when someone sets no boundaries about what she’ll share online?...
– The Frisky: Writing About Your Personal Life Online, A Cautionary Tale
I urge you to go read this entire column. I couldn’t have said this better myself.
(via lizlemon)
I’ve realized lately that I write an awful lot about myself, beyond just my meals. I post a lot of photos of myself...

It's about time! →
(via healthfoodstalker)
Apparently, deep in the health care reform legislation, there’s a part where it says that chain restaurants (with 20 or more outlets) must put nutrition information on their menus and signs.
What do you think? The more information, the better? Or the government doesn’t belong in your food?
Recovery?
I may have mentioned that I ran a half-marathon on Sunday? Now, I know a half-marathon is no marathon, but it’s also no 5K either. It’s a race I trained for for a few months, running a bunch o’miles every week. So my question is, how long does one (one who is still trying to lose a few pounds) recover from a half? And how? I have found plenty of resources on recovering from a...

Spring Shape-Up Challenge!?
I’m going through the last of the e-mails, and I’ll be doing a wrap-up post in the next day or two, but I was wondering what you think.
(No, I didn’t get to write back to as many of the e-mails as I would have liked, and no, I didn’t have as many helpful posts as I would have liked — I got extraordinarily busy after starting the challenge.)

NYC Half Marathon Recap!
Yesterday, I ran my second half-marathon. For reasons I won’t get into, I had a really stressful Saturday night, and I didn’t sleep well at all.
I woke up at 5:15 and gobbled down a Luna bar and a banana. Shortly after 6, Meg and I headed to the subway from my apartment. My usual subway stop was closed (WTF?!), and so we had to get on at a different stop to transfer to the 4/5. By...
Bike Advice?
I’m looking to see if any of you in the NYC area have a bike you’re not using, or advice for someone to find a decent (but cheap) bike on Craig’s List. What should I be looking for? I think I’m probably looking for something a bit more advanced than a cruiser but not really as hard-core as a mountain bike. A road bike, I think? (I’ll share any tips I get.)
