I had a ball!
Couldn’t resist :) Here’s just a few snapshots from last night…
The best part of my outfit? The necklace. My grandmother’s, loaned to me from my mother with express instructions to NOT LOSE IT. This picture may be a bit unclear, but there is quite a bit of bling on my neck.
Yeah, just chillin’ with Andre Leon Talley at The Plaza. No biggie.
The beautiful ball...

8 Things I Wish I Knew About Health and Happiness... →
4. Make fitness a non-negotiable item on your to-do list. Sure, there are exceptions—and who wants to live a rigid life—but a commitment to fitness means a commitment to health and happiness, and there’s just not much that can trump the importance of getting my heart rate up.

Half-Marathon Training, or Lack Thereof
I am so not into the half-marathon this time around.
I’ve barely followed my training schedule. I’m just trying to keep to my long runs on the weekends and get whatever runs in during the week that I can.
I ran a half-marathon last month, I reason with myself. I’m in great shape physically. I know I can do it.
But sticking to a...

lookmom asked: How often do you work out with your trainer?
nomadicbird-deactivated20100519 asked: I love your "before and after" post - clearly you are SO much healthier now and it is remarkable how different you look. I have a friend who is overweight and although she's claimed to start diets or workout routines in the past, she's never followed through with it. I love her so much and know she'd be healthier and most likely happier if she lost some weight. As...
Broke? Work Out for Free.
I saw this on Gawker today, and it reminded me of something I’ve wanted to write about for awhile.
Columbia Law student Julia Neyman is at the center of a building media frenzy over her blog stunt, to work out on free gym passes for a full year. Cue the requisite book deal in three… two…

My Spring Shape-Up Update
These are the goals I set for myself last week. How’d I do?
My goals:
Fitness: Find a new half-marathon training program (I’m not crazy about the one I’m doing), stick to all runs between now and then. Do strength twice on top of that, including at least one workout on my own (as in, not in a class. In the gym. Alone.) Do yoga at least once. Take one day off. I took two days off, but the...

Dress Me?
It’s a rainy Tuesday afternoon and you’re bored. Wanna dress me?
I’m going to the FABULOUS New York Junior League Winter Ball at THE PLAZA on Saturday. (P.S. Tickets are still on sale and they benefit the Junior League and our wonderful community programs. Good cause, people!)
So…what should I wear? I’m looking to spend $300 or under and am also thinking Rent the...

jconcilio asked: So I almost never get to Starbucks, and the one I was at yesterday didn't have "the wrap." I did, however, really enjoy their oatmeal with the nuts and dried fruit. Have you ever had it, and what did you think?

– -Dr. Oz
I’ve seen articles that say you should save your bed for sex and sleep. Dr. Oz says I shouldn’t work at my kitchen table. Joel says I shouldn’t sit on my couch any more than necessary.
So I’m sitting on the floor with my laptop, because I only associate that with a...
Dr. Oz's 100 Weight Loss Tips | The Dr. Oz Show →
A lot of pop-culture weight loss advice is either pretty off-base or promises you can lose 20 pounds in 2 days by smiling and thinking of unicorns, but this list from Dr. Oz is actually pretty amazing.

Me? You get healthy recipe ideas from me?
Every once in a while, a friend will tell me they get healthy recipe ideas from me or ask me for an idea of a healthy recipe. As someone who’s still not entirely sure she’s preparing chicken right or chopping vegetables the right way, that always amuses me.
Along those lines, I just threw a pound of chicken in my crockpot with a container of Greek yogurt, a can of chicken broth, some...
Rest Day...
…and I got in a 5.4-mile walk with Bailey. Not too shabby. Photos later.
