Happy Halloween!
For the first Halloween in a while (definitely since college), I am wearing a skimpy little costume. How skimpy? Let’s just say… I won’t be posting any photos of it! I value my career and I don’t want photos of it surfacing on the Internetz for future employers to see.
Who knew ladybugs wore so little?
Halloween? A little terrifying for those who have...
It represents the beginning of the Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas trifecta, which, of course, is immediately followed by New Year’s.
Since my five-mile run last night, I have consumed:
1 bottle of Nesquik chocolate milk
2 cookies
2 munchkins (and, was regrettably, that super-obnoxious girl at the work Halloween party that mentioned that there are 80 calories in each munchkin. Sorry...
Do I obsess about food?
A little bit. I’m currently thinking about what to have for lunch and how to best space out my lunch and smoothie. The smoothie truck guy makes this difficult, because he closes up shop around 3:45. Maybe I will just have the smoothie for lunch?
In which I find out there's not actually a sport...
[Eileen tells me she's thinking of being a marathon runner for Halloween, and that she has a bib from an old 5K she ran.]
Me: what was your time?
Eileen: 23 something
me: whoa, that is ridiculously fast
Eileen: theodore...would you expect any less from athlete of the year? this was also 3 years ago. i'm not as fast anymore
me: :) i was hoping there was SOME sport you weren't good at!
Question for running people!
If I miss a training run, do I make it up or just skip it?
DAY 78.1
ninetydays:
See, I like whole grains way too much. And while I’ve cut back on my starchy carb intake, I still enjoy a good piece of whole wheat bread with my salad or soup, stone ground wheat crackers with my cheese and apple snacks, brown basmati rice with my steamed veggies, and steel cut oatmeal or whole grain cereals for breakfast (God, I love Kashi GoLean Crunch). The problem is that all...
Gym Fail
It’s 10:56pm, and I just went upstairs to the gym in my building to do an easy 2 miles, per my training schedule. Well, it seems that all the cool kids work out late-night, because every single machine—ellipticals, bicycles and treadmills— was taken.
Revised plan: 2 miles tomorrow morning (with Bailey), a second workout on Thursday in addition to working out with Joel, and doing...
just another manic monday
downsizing:
As I mentioned this morning, I slept through spin due to alarm clock failures. I did good with breakfast (strawberries, JC frosted oats, fresh OJ and a mini babybel light), and good with lunch (turkey taco soup). I sent Nutrionista my new weekly goals around noon, and then it was like a switch turned off. Afternoon snack - Hershey’s milk chocolate bar with Nathaniel. Then a late...

For those of you that think getting healthy is...
A new heart costs $100,000 — at least according to the sign outside my gym.
Just because it’s medically possible to get a new heart, doesn’t mean you should stop taking care of your current ticker.
I don’t know about you, but I’d like to leave this world with all the same parts I had when I came into it.
An interesting debate →

It seems really ridic to give anyone a hard time for wanting to get in shape for a marathon, especially given the obesity epidemic and whatnot… but taking longer than 6 hours, walking half of it, stopping for lunch? What do you think?
Very interesting article. Agreed that it’s ridiculous to give people a hard time for wanting to get in shape, but I think cut-off times are...
If a blogger doesn't document a run, does it...
The answer to that is yes.
I just did an easy three miles to calibrate that damn Nike+.
I also tried out the Map My Run iPhone app, which I must say, I really liked. If you don’t have the Nike+, I totally recommend it. The only downside is that — like any other iPhone app — you can’t use other apps. There’s a Pro version for $4.99 and a free version. I downloaded...
A weekend in food
Yesterday, I tried this weird new thing called a “digital camera.” You can’t make phone calls from it, and it doesn’t have any apps, but it does take decent pictures. Ooh! It also has this light thing, I think it’s called a flash, that brightens the objects you’re taking pictures of.
After the race yesterday, I was STARVING, so I had a spinach feta wrap. (And...
If I wanted to do the National Marathon in D.C. in March—which I might, haven’t decided yet—I have qualified, based on today’s race results!
You have to run a 10K in under 65:00, which, even with the gun time, I did!
Shenae Grimes Works Out, Then Gets Cake →
Just cause I love the new 90210 :) I used to really like Annie’s (Shenae Grimes’) character, but they have her on a weird story arc this year.

Nike+ Human Race: The Good, The Bad and the Just...
Since I am an optimistic person, I’ll start with the good about the race:
It was another race under my belt and my first 10K.
I ran at a pretty good speed, for me.
Prospect Park is pretty.
I ran it with new-friend-thanks-to-Tumblr Meghan and her awesome friend Libby.
It is just before noon, and I’ve already done my workout for the day.
My cabbie was adorable and decided to give...
