Feeling More at Home

I’ve been in my new apartment for about a month, and it already feels homier than any other apartment I’ve ever lived in. I think a lot of that has to do with having walls that aren’t white, but I’ve also been picking up some accents to make everything come together more.

My friend Emily has an amazing eye for decorating, and she’s been an awesome person to bounce ideas off of (as has my mom, of course.)

*Edited to add: Pinterest has been completely invaluable, too. Any time I have a general apartment idea in mind, I search for it on Pinterest and get even more ideas. I’m pretty sure I search “Chevron shower curtain” daily.*

Emily suggested I get cute bowls like these to store my chunky jewelry in.

And trays to tie it all together. This try was actually supposed to hold the bowls, too, but I completely underestimated the size of the tray. Also, my poor piggy bank looks like he’s in piggy bank jail here.

This is not a new accent, but it makes me happy. My parents came in today because my dad hadn’t seen my apartment yet, and he hung my medal rack for me. I have it hidden in the window by my bed, so you can only see it from my bed. It doesn’t really go with the rest of the apartment!

My dad also hung this mirror for me in the entryway. That poor sad little table will be heading the way of Craigslist once I find a different table for this area. It doesn’t really match.

And this random trunk with drawers which my mom found at Home Goods.

There’s also a lovely spot here for my yoga mat, which I took out to do a DailyBurn video tonight. I had a late night last night and then was busy all day, first with brunch and then with my parents, so I hadn’t had a chance to work out earlier, and it’s raining cats and dogs right now and my apartment is warm and dry.

What inanimate objects make your home feel more home-y? People and animals don’t count here, sorry.

Your apartment is super cute! I find that non-white walls make a place feel more homey for sure! My new apartment has felt like home quicker than any other apartment I’ve lived in and I think the off white walls plus the wine colored wall in my room help. It’s really the little things. 🙂

Your apt is so cute! Love the wall color. I think that making sure I have big comfy pillows on the couches and bed make me feel more at home. Also the blankets my mom have made for me always work too!
